One step before making knitted project yes… mastering of increasing is crucial. Increasing techniques are more tricky than decreasing, need practice more and more. 🙂 I practiced 3 different increasing techniques: yo, m1 and kfb. I posted about knitting in this post and this post.
yo (yarn over)
yo is the easiest way for increasing just move the yarn to forward before knit. I found this video for yo practicing:
I made pattern for yo practice as follow:
- Cast on 8 sts
- row 1-4: k4
- row 5: k3, yo, k2, yo, k3
- row 6 and all even rows (until row 20): k3, p until 3 last sts, k3
- row 7: k4, yo, k2, yo, k4
- row 9: k5, yo, k2, yo, k5
- row 11: k6, yo, k2, yo, k6
- row 13: k7, yo, k2, yo, k7
- row 15: k8, yo, k2, yo, k8
- row 17: k9, yo, k2, yo, k9
- row 19: k10, yo, k2, yo, k10
- row 21-24: k4
- cast off

M1 (make 1)
The pattern of practicing m1 is similar as yo, just exchange yo with m1.

kfb (knit1, front and back)
The pattern for kfb practicing as follow:
- Cast on 10 sts
- row 1-4: k4
- row 5: k3, kfb, k2, kfb, k3
- row 6 and all even rows (until row 20): k3, p until 3 last sts, k3
- row 7: k4, kfb, k2, kfb, k4
- row 9: k5, kfbo, k2, kfb, k5
- row 11: k6, kfb, k2, kfb, k6
- row 13: k7, kfb, k2, kfb, k7
- row 15: k8, kfb, k2, kfb, k8
- row 17: k9, kfb, k2, kfb, k9
- row 19: k10, kfb, k2, kfb, k10
- row 21-24: k4
- cast off

Knitting is about patient, I had to practice and practice because to make knitted project is time consuming and definitely precious. 🙂
